Drywall going up - progress shots

Additional runs for HVAC & HRV

After reviewing the house with our HVAC folks I noticed the entire mudroom/entrance area had no air supplies or returns. So I asked them to correct that feature and they added a HVAC supply and an HRV supply and return to the mudroom.  Downside is I had to give up a small closet area to get those runs from upstairs to downstairs.

2 round holes are the HRV supply/return, rectangle is for the HVAC

Blower door testing & bonus insulation

This was an interesting part. Steve our illustrious energy rater came by and did a blower door test to check for air leakage. He then did a survey with the IR camera looking for air infiltration. We did find some places, but overall we achieved 1810 CFM50, comes out to 2.8 ACH50. Which I'm told is quite good for first pass numbers. It should get tighter as we add drywall etc..

Also.. I bumped into Carlos one of our insulation guys who offered to insulate the whole garage for a small additional price.. so since that will be my man cave I splurged on it:

The wonderful world of spray foam..

Stopped by the house this evening to check out the progress on the insulation. They have just about wrapped up the foaming portion. They look to be just doing the last bits of cleanup before they start the underfloor batts. From what I can tell the house is going to be quite airtight.

HVAC going in! Inspections!

HVAC system going in. We're going with a Trane XV20i heatpump system. With a seperate HRV system to bring in fresh air since we're doing such a tightly insulated house.

We did pass more or less our rough-in inspection. I have a nice list to go fix but we're moving forward with insulation (spray foam on roof and exterior non sip walls) this week! More pics to come. With any luck, drywall starts next week and we start the home stretch for the finishings.

Roof complete!

Last night walked on my new finish roof. Its a bit slippery but man its going to be real easy to clean. Pity you can only see it from behind my house. From the front I don't think theres an angle to appreciate it other than the overhangs.
